ALC offers Individualized SAT/ACT/FCAT Test Prep and Subject Tutoring for students of ALL ages in ALL subjects.

Our faculty works with your child's actual classroom materials. This helps raise grades and build self-confidence!

The Staff
ALC tutors are comprised of elementary, middle school, high school, and college level teachers and professors, graduate and undergraduate students from accredited universities, and seasoned professionals who have prior experience tutoring and/or teaching.

The Curriculum
ALC works with students' classroom materials. This system lowers stress levels and reduces frustration. We understand what is needed in order to help students be more successful.

The One-on-One Approach
We have found that one-to-one teaching is the most effective. Tutors teach directly to the students' particular learning style.

Advanced Learning Centers Services

• Elementary - Math, Study Skills, Language Arts, Reading Comprehension.

• Middle School - Math, Science, Social Studies, Language Arts, Study Skills.

• High School - AP Instruction, College Entrance, Math, Science, History, Study Skills, Language Arts, Foreign Language.

• SAT Test Prep - The SAT is divided into several times sections of multiple-choice Math, Critical Reading and Writing questions. It includes a mandatory essay section, which is administered at the beginning of the examination. ALC offers intensive SAT preparation. Tutors provide in-depth instruction in test taking strategy and SAT content. The unique ALC curriculum emphasizes problem-solving techniques, time management skills, and confidence. Students take a practice test at Advanced Learning Centers to establish baseline criteria; the practice test is NOT a scoring device. We analyze your child's responses to determine patters of strengths and weaknesses. From these results, we tailor tutoring sessions to emphasize their strengths and overcome any weaknesses.

• ACT Test Prep - The ACT tends to be a more curriculum based exam and is somewhat less focused on Critical Thinking Skills. It asks students to extract information rather than apply information. The ACT is scored out of a total of 36 points. A student's Composite score and each Test score (English, Math, Reading, Science) range from 1 (low) to 36 (high). The Composite score is the average of the four Test scores, rounded to the nearest whole number. Unlike the SAT, the ACT does not deduct points for incorrect answers; therefore guessing is always an option. The ACT Exam is formatted differently than the SAT and includes English, Math, Reading, Science and an optional Writing Section.
