DRUMMERS
Bring a drum or other percussion instrument and join us in the drum circle every
first Saturday at 6 p.m. from January until April. The circle forms in the
George C. McGough Nature Park at the Largo Narrows, 11901 146th St. N. Listeners
of all ages are also invited to relax by the campfire and enjoy the rhythm as
Barry Skeete, an Arthur Hull certified drum circle facilitator, leads the group.

Guided Canoe Trip at Weedon Island Preserve

Explore the south canoe trail of Weedon Island Preserve and get a rare look at
the aquatic ecosystems that make west-central Florida special. Trained guides
lead through mangrove stands and over seagrass and oyster beds while pointing
out various flora and fauna. The cost, including tax, for this unique experience
is $10 per person or $20 per canoe with a maximum of three people in each canoe.
Children should be over 6 years old and accompanied by an adult. Spaces fill

The Fourth Annual City of St. Pete Beach Touch-A-Truck is rolling in, bringing
trucks of all shapes and sizes to the St. Pete Beach Community Center (7701 Boca
Ciega Drive). Kids of all ages are in the driver’s seat when they explore
municipal vehicles and meet the personnel who serve and protect our community.
After getting up close to all the wheeled wonders, kids and families will enjoy
a moon bounce house, pottery creation station hosted by Practically Pikasso,
snacks and refreshments, and plenty of family fun. This is a free event for the
community so bring the kids and enjoy a fun-filled afternoon. We are always
looking for new vehicles to show off! If you have a truck or vehicle that you
would like to share with the children or you would like to get involved with

Wee-time at Weedon: On Beyond Bugs

Introduce your preschooler to the wonders of the natural world at this free
Wee-time at Weedon program. This week’s program is from The Cat in the Hat’s
Learning Library and presents On Beyond Bugs, a clever rhyming story by Tish
Rabe. Children learn about insects and their many different important parts with

Seabird Rescue – The Four R’s

Join Michelle Simoneau and Greg Slutzky from the Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary.
Learn about bird habitats and nesting seasons and what to do if you encounter a
seabird in trouble. One of the Sanctuary’s resident birds will attend the

Guided Canoe Trip at Weedon Island Preserve
Weedon Island Preserve, 1800 Weedon Drive N.E., St. Petersburg
Explore the south canoe trail of Weedon Island Preserve and get a rare look at
the aquatic ecosystems that make west-central Florida special. Trained guides
lead through mangrove stands and over seagrass and oyster beds while pointing
out various flora and fauna. The cost, including tax, for this unique experience
is $10 per person or $20 per canoe with a maximum of three people in each canoe.
Children should be over 6 years old and accompanied by an adult. Spaces fill

Moths – Denizens of the Night at Weedon Island Preserve
Weedon Island Preserve, 1800 Weedon Drive N.E., St. Petersburg
Explore the world of moths and learn about this colorful and diverse group of
insects with Don Stillwaugh of Pinellas County’s Environmental Lands Division.
This talk covers the natural history of moths, a brief overview of the major
families and common species and methods of study. A black light demonstration is
part of the fun. This program is great for adults and suitable for children 12
