Internet Statistics
Understanding basic Internet
statistics will help you track your online advertising and
marketing strategies.
Website
Traffic

Graphic Note:
The Unique Visitors metric only counts a person once no matter
how many times they visit a site in a given month. Unique
Visitors are typically used to determine how popular a site is.
Unique Visitors -
Individuals who visited your site during the report period. If
someone visits more than once, they are counted only the first
time they visit. The number of unique users refers to a user's
time and activity spent on your site. This is typically the best
way to determine how many times your website is visited.
Page Views - This
statistic measures the number of times that a given page is
loaded and viewed by a visitor.
Hits - generated when
any file is served. The page itself is considered a file, but
images are also files, thus a page with 10 images could generate
11 hits (the 10 images and the page itself).
Top Entrance Page -
shows you the most common starting point for visitors to your
site. Many people are surprised to find that this is not always
a website's homepage.
Top Exit Pages - shows
the most common ending point where visitors leave your site.
Top Referring URLs -
refers to those websites which refer or direct traffic to your
website, such as a search engine or another website (PinellasLife.com)
with a link to your site.
Most Popular Keywords
- tells you the keywords that visitors are most often using to
find your site on the Internet. It can help you to determine
which of your targeted keywords and keyword phrases are working
and which are not.
