Testimonial
Dear Dr. ONeal, Thank you
for a job well done. Your office not only strives for excellence but is
also achieving it! I experienced, throughout my entire makeover process,
professionalism, technical expertise, and tremendous patient care.
Contrary to my previous experiences, you complete work to my satisfaction
and not minimum acceptable standards. Never were my concerns put aside or
my questions left unanswered, at any level, by you or your team.
Making the decision of whom to hire was not a choice I took lightly.
Finding your office committed me to driving in excess of one hour each way
though clearly, worth it. I am impressed with the education and training
of everyone in your office. Your technical experience is evident and your
skilled team is a great complement to you.
A successful business delivers not only products or services but also
customer service. NuSmile Dental delivers smiles, actually and
figuratively. For my new smile and for a team I can place my confidence
and continued trust in, thank you. I took forward to giving you and your
team my business and continued, enthusiastic recommendation in the future.
With Appreciation and Respect.
Sedation
Dentistry
Sedation
dentistry, as the name implies, is a technique used by Dr. O'Neal to
provide a relaxing and anxiety-free experience for people receiving dental
treatment. A major benefit to the sedation technique is that people often
feel the procedure lasts only a few minutes when in fact, it might have
taken hours to perform. Most people rarely feel any discomfort after the
procedure.
Many people avoid visiting the dentist because of the common dental
phobia. Avoiding regular dental treatment often results in neglect of oral
health and appearance, up to and beyond the point when drastic measures
become necessary. Sedation dentistry addresses this phobia, allowing
people to undergo dental work while avoiding this common apprehension.
TMJ
Jaw and bite disorders
affect tens of thousands of men and women each year. At NuSmile Dental ,
residents of St. Petersburg and cities across Florida can now receive
advanced TMJ therapy to correct problems associated with a misaligned jaw
or damaged bite.
TMJ stands for
“temporomandibular joint,” or jaw joint. These are the small joints in
front of each ear that attach the lower jaw to the skull, and happen to be
the most complex joints in the entire body. The area of the face where the
TMJ is located is an intricate network of bones, including the teeth,
muscles, and nerves. Because of this, TMJ (dysfunction) conditions affect
many areas of the body, from the top of the head in migraine-like
headaches to numbness or tingling in the arms and pain in the neck or
shoulders.
Common symptoms of TMJ are:
-
Pain in the facial muscles and jaw joints may radiate to the neck or
shoulders. Joints may be overstretched. You may experience muscle spasms
from TMJ. You may feel pain every time you talk, chew, or yawn. Pain
usually appears in the joint itself, in front of the ear, but it may move
elsewhere in the skull, face, or jaw.
-
Ear pain, ringing in the ears (tinnitus), and hearing loss. Sometimes
people mistake TMJ pain for an ear problem, such as an ear infection, when
the ear is not the problem at all.
-
Clicking sounds and popping when the joints move. This means the disc may
be in an abnormal position. Sometimes no treatment is needed if the sounds
give you no pain.
-
Swelling. Your face and mouth may swell on the affected side.
Who suffers from TMJ?
The majority of people suffer to a greater or lesser degree from TMJ.
Although women report more pain from TMJ, TMJ in men causes as much or
more damage to the teeth, gums, bones and joints. Children are especially
sensitive to TMJ and usually show early signs with ear infections, leaning
their head on an arm, lip, cheek, or finger biting, sucking or chewing,
headaches, snoring, grinding of their teeth at night, and significant
chewing of gum.
Invisalign
Invisalign is the advanced
way to straighten teeth and improve smiles. Using the latest medical
imaging technologies, Invisalign manufactures precision polymer aligners
that rapidly straighten teeth. Using a precise 3-dimensional analysis of
your teeth and adjacent tissue, Invisalign crafts personalized aligners
for our guests. Each aligner is worn for approximately two weeks, and can
be removed to eat, brush, floss, and on special occasions.
Why Invisalign?
When it comes to creating
beautiful smiles, Invisalign is the clear alternative to metal braces.
Invisalign aligners:
-
Are clear - Invisalign aligners are virtually invisable.
-
Stay clear - Invisalign aligners do not "cloud" during treatment.
-
Are hygienic - Invisalign aligners are easy to clean.
-
Are comfortable - Invisalign's revolutionary manufacturing process ensures
a precise, accurate fit.
Teeth that are straight and
properly aligned create a more perfect bite, and that avoids excessive
stress, headaches, and strain on your supporting bone and tissue.
Dental
Implants
Although you have a number
of restorative options for the treatment of missing teeth, none have
proven to be as functionally effective and durable as implants.
Advantages of Implant
Dentistry
Dental implants are stronger
and more durable than their restorative counterparts (bridges and
dentures). Implants offer a permanent solution to tooth loss.
Additionally, implants may be used in conjunction with other restorative
procedures for maximum effectiveness. For example, a single implant can
serve to support a crown replacing a single missing tooth.
Procedural advancements,
mean that more people than ever before are finding themselves candidates
for implantation.
Dental
Veneers
Two of the most popular
options in restorative cosmetic dentistry today are Veneers and Lumineers.
Both Veneers and Lumineers are made of thin, durable porcelain material
and both can provide natural looking, long lasting results when prepared
by an experienced, competent dentist. In order to determine which option
is best for you, Dr. O'Neal will consider a variety of circumstances,
which include your unique dental history, your overall health, your
personal desires and expectations, and her professional understanding of
how your final results will meet your needs.
A Restorative Benefit to Veneers
In addition to being esthetically pleasing, dental veneers can also serve
a functional purpose by protecting the surface of a damaged tooth. In some
cases, veneers may replace the need for a dental crown, eliminating the
need for more invasive tooth preparation.
Because dental veneers are so thin, they might require little-to-no tooth
reshaping when bonded onto the tooth. Once veneers are bonded into place,
they are relatively strong and durable; however, care must be taken so as
not to abuse veneers because the thin porcelain shells can damage or
break.
Dentures
A denture is a removable
replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissues. Two types of
dentures are available – complete and partial dentures. Complete dentures
are used when all the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used
when some natural teeth remain.
Complete dentures can be either "conventional" or "immediate." Made after
the teeth have been removed and the gum tissue has begun to heal, a
conventional denture is ready for placement in the mouth about 8 to 12
weeks after the teeth have been removed.
Partial Dentures. A removable partial denture or bridge usually consists
of replacement teeth attached to a pink or gum-colored plastic base, which
is connected by metal framework that holds the denture in place in the
mouth. Partial dentures are used when one or more natural teeth remain in
the upper or lower jaw.
Are there alternatives to dentures?
Yes, dental implants can be used to support permanently cemented bridges,
eliminating the need for a denture. The cost is usually greater, but the
implants and bridges more closely resemble the feel of real teeth. Dental
implants are becoming the alternative to dentures but not everyone is a
candidate for implants.
Zoom2
Whitening
Average of 8 shades lighter
in just 60 minutes!
How long does teeth whitening last?
Zoom-2 teeth whitening studies indicate that results can last up to two
years. Longevity will obviously vary depending on each person and their
lifestyle (foods and drinks they consume). Most people will choose to use
one of the many simple methods our office provides to maintain their white
teeth over time, once the initial whitening has occurred.
It is common for some people to have some sensitivity to the teeth
whitening products. Dr. O'Neal strongly recommends not to overuse
over-the-counter whitening products.
