 Redington
Shores Beach Access
This 3.5-acre gulf site was acquired in 1973 at
a cost of $909,500 and developed through the Florida
Recreation Development Assistance Program. The beach was
opened to the public on August 9, 1975, and offers 170 parking
spaces, restroom facilities, beach showers, and a
400-foot-wide beach. To compliment this outstanding facility
and help preserve the beach, a dune establishment program was
started in 1990. Seashore grasses, plants, and two boardwalks
were added to help protect this delicate area which attracts
over 600,000 visitors each year.

Town of Redington Beach Florida
The Town of Redington Beach, Florida, is located on a barrier island in the Gulf
of Mexico. Bordered by North Redington Beach to the north, Madeira Beach to the
south, the Intracoastal Waterway on the east, and the Gulf of Mexico on the
west, the Redington Beach is primarily a waterfront residential community.
A native from Iowa named David Welch owned most the land from John's Pass in
Madeira Beach to Indian Rocks Beach. In the early 1930's a man by the name of
Charles Redington purchased the northern end of David Welch's property and in
1935 built the first permanent residence in the town. Redington Beach
incorporated in 1944.
